Shawn Ray’s Advice To Beastwood

Was “Sugar” Shawn Ray’s advice to Quinton “Beastwood” Eriya following his big at the 2026 Toronto Supershow taken out of context? If so, what’s was the context? I mean, did he or didn’t he counsel Eriya to not compete at the 2026 Olympia? As I pointed out in my articles for IronMag and StrengthAddicts, Shawn had to have known that his advice would create shockwaves in the fitness industry. As the most photographed bodybuilder in FLEX Magazine history and as a celebrated journalist in his own right, Shawn’s word has tremendous reach. And as soon as the comments went public, they went viral.

Is it possible Shawn was taken out context? Perhaps, but if the words DON’T COMPETE AT THE OLYMPIA were anywhere in the statement(s) or articulated in the intention, then people are going to sound off. And let them! Conversation is great. Was it a little shitty to rain on the guy’s parade? I mean, why did Shawn have this burning desire to make his position public during the days after Eriya won the 2026 Toronto Supershow? Who knows..

The timing wasn’t great – IF it was unintentional.

What did you think Shawn meant?
